Source code of "FIFA 21" introduced on darknet

Redwood City. Well-known video game providers are increasingly battling hacker attacks. After the Polish company CD Projekt (“The Witcher”), major publisher Electronic Arts (EA) is also now a victim of cyberattacks. The attackers had “to a limited extent” the stolen game source code and related software tools, the company confirmed to financial services Bloomberg, among others.

According to the online magazine “Vice”, the hackers claim that, among other things, they obtained the source code of the soccer game “FIFA 21”. Blackberry software security experts also received offers of EA data on the dark web.

Hackers may have access to multiple computers

In this context, he warned that the stolen information could allow hackers to gain access to multiple computers. In particular, they may develop additional software specially tailored such as cheats that can be used as gateways, BlackBerry experts asserted Friday.

At the same time, EA emphasized that no player data was captured in the attack – and no risk to their privacy is currently seen.

CD Projekt was already the target of a hacker attack in February – and it has now been announced that it is now believed that information about the attack will be offered for sale on the Internet. In addition to data on games, information on employees and business partners may also be included, it said.
