China rejects Canada's allegations against its judiciary

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin denied the allegations against the People’s Republic of Justice on behalf of Canada. A statement by Canada’s foreign minister in this regard ignores facts, condemns China and violently interferes with China’s legal sovereignty, which China strongly rejects and condemns, Wang told the press in Beijing on Monday.

On Sunday, Canadian Foreign Minister Marc Garneau said Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor were “arbitrarily detained” by China for 1,000 days and criticized the judicial process in China as “non-transparent”. .

Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor have been charged with suspicious crimes against China’s national security, and recent information released by relevant authorities showed there was solid evidence of their crimes, Wang said. The Chinese judicial authorities handled the case in accordance with the law and all their rights were fully respected.

Speaking of the military coup in Guinea on Sunday, Wang said China had called for the release of jailed President Alpha Conde. China calls on all parties to exercise restraint and resolve the issue through dialogue and consultation.
