Trump threatens party ally DeSantis with revelations

Will Donald Trump run for the White House again in 2024? Signs are increasing. The governor of Florida is also said to have ambitions. But Trump suggests DeSantis, a Republican ally, discarded it.

Former President Donald Trump has threatened to make uncomfortable disclosures to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis if he runs for the White House in 2024. Trump told Fox News that he could “say things that are not particularly flattering” about DeSantis. “I know more about him than anyone – except maybe his wife.”

Trump announced a “huge announcement” on Monday, November 15. It can be assumed that he wants to announce his candidacy in the presidential election of 2024, which has been indicated for a long time.

A Strong Opponent for Trump?

The 76-year-old is popular with Republican voters. And some Republican politicians who broke up with him after his lies about presidential election fraud were excommunicated by the party.

But across the country, Trump is so controversial that many Republicans like DeSantis or his former Vice President Mike Pence are considered to challenge him with their candidacy. DeSantis, 44, who sits on the right, is considered a particularly strong opponent. “If he starts, it could be very painful for him,” Trump said of the Florida governor. “I think he will make a mistake. I don’t think it will be good for the party.”

DeSantis clearly wins

The 44-year-old underscored his popularity in the Florida governor’s election. According to forecasts from TV stations CNN, Fox News and NBC, DeSantis clearly won the election against Democratic challenger Charlie Crist. After almost all votes were counted, DeSantis was ahead with 59.5 to 39.9 percent.

DeSantis has been the head of state in the southeastern United States since 2019. The right-wing politician is considered the rising star of Republicans – and a potential inner-party competitor – to former President Donald Trump ahead of the presidential election in 2024.
