A 20-story skyscraper has engulfed in flames in Milan. The fire brigade was successful in controlling the fire. Authorities are confident that all residents were able to escape in time.
A 20-storey residential building in Milan was destroyed in a massive fire. According to the fire brigade, flames broke out on the upper floors of the building on the southern outskirts late in the evening. The fire was brought under control, the fire department said on Twitter.
The action of the fire brigade was going on on dozens of fire engines. Hours after the outbreak, emergency services reported that the fire had been brought under control.
20 people suffered mild smoke inhalation
Italy’s metropolitan mayor Beppe Sala said about 20 people on the outskirts of Milan came out of the skyscraper without any problems.
Sala told Corriere della Sera newspaper that firefighters went from one apartment to another and broke down doors to make sure no one was inside. However, officials are confident that they will be able to douse the flames in time. No reports of victims have been received so far. According to the newspaper, about 20 tenants had to face mild smoke inhalation.

The pictures show how the entire front part of the house is engulfed in black smoke. “We smelled smoke and immediately ran away,” said a resident. Another eyewitness said the panels on the walls had melted “like butter”.
