Semiconductor shortages forced General Motors to temporarily halt production at eight plants in the United States, Canada and Mexico in September. Depending on the location, the band should rest for two weeks, reports the BBC in the context of corporate communications.

On Thursday, Volkswagen registered short work hours for the plant in Emden; Daimler boss Ola Kleinius announced that sales in the third quarter will be significantly weaker than those in April to June.
