Suzuki GSX-S1000 GT – For the Big Tour

Till now, the GSX-S 1000 was a fun motorcycle for a fast ride. Suzuki has launched this bike as GT for the coming season. As a true tourer, it should compete with the Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX, for example.

Suzuki’s GSX-S1000, which was earlier not clean, is now with the long-range GT sports tourer variant, thus competing with Kawasaki, who have been successfully following the concept since 2019 with the Ninja 1000 SX . Like the Green, the Suzuki is also characterized by performance, agility, stability at high speed ranges, rear suitability and long range comfort.

In this regard, complete fairing with miniature LED headlights, which better protect the driver from the wind, is hardly noticeable on the GSX-S1000 GT. The fairing, which was adapted to the wind tunnel, should also guarantee the aforementioned driving stability at accelerating speeds. The new model variant will also be available in a travel edition, with a matching side case and a tank bag.

But even more important is what drives the GSX-S1000GT. Technically, the GT is based on the famous GSX-S1000. Accordingly, the output of a one-liter four-cylinder is 152 hp. According to the manufacturer, the engine in the GT should be characterized by a more homogeneous and better performance development on the lower rounds. A comfortable position on the 810-millimeter-high two-part bench is ensured by a 23-millimeter wide, rubber-encased conical handlebar, the handles of which are 14 millimeters closer to the driver.

The USD fork with 120 millimeters of spring travel is fully adjustable, so that the rear central spring strut with 130 millimeters of travel, rebound adjustment and seven-fold spring preload should also take the hassle out of the asphalt. As for the payload, Suzuki specifies 190 kg for the ready-to-drive 226 kg GT. To bring the load to a standstill, 310mm brake discs work at the front wheel in combination with radially attached Brembo monoblock four-piston calipers. A 250 mm disc supports the rear.

Incidentally, Suzuki hints at consumption with a slim 5.3 liters. Which in turn would mean that the 19 liters in the tank could cover a distance of over 350 kms. The GT’s travel-ready equipment includes cruise control, a USB socket, a bidirectional quick-shift system, and traction control that can be adjusted in five stages.

It’s also worth noting that the GT’s completely new cockpit comes with a 6.5-inch color TFT display as the centerpiece. Not only can it be configured as needed, it also integrates widely with smartphones and allows for navigation applications, music streaming or driver-passenger communication. Pairing happens via WLAN or Bluetooth using a special app for iOS and Android. A USB connection next to the TFT should ensure the power requirements of the mobile end device. Prices for the Suzuki GSX-S1000 GT start at €14,450 and €15,250 respectively.
