An unusual incident paralyzed Palma de Mallorca airport for several hours. A Moroccan plane made an unscheduled stopover. Many people left the machine and left.

Palma de Mallorca’s international airport was halted for more than three hours following an unusual incident late Friday. A Moroccan airline machine had made an unscheduled stopover on its way from Casablanca to Istanbul due to a medical emergency, “Mallorca Zeitung” and “El Pais” reported.

According to reports, the authorities believed that this was a targeted action aimed at entering Spain illegally. When an ambulance arrived on a Moroccan plane to pick up a passenger and his partner, who were reportedly suffering from diabetic shock, about 20 other passengers fled to Son Sant Joan airspace, forcing flight operations to be suspended .

Arrested for illegal entry

According to airport operator Ana, the incoming planes were diverted to Ibiza, Menorca or Barcelona. Anna tweeted that a total of 13 incoming machines were diverted. Police and security officials began a search for the passengers, at least five of whom may have been arrested in a community near the airport, as the “Mallorca Zeitung” wrote, citing police.

Investigators believed that others also managed to climb over the airport fence. No complaints were received at the hospital for the passenger with a medical emergency. He apparently only simulated a diabetic coma, “Mallorca Zeitung” reported. When he reached the hospital, his companion had already disappeared. The alleged patient was arrested on suspicion of facilitating illegal admission.
