The dictator’s black trench leather coat has become a cult item in North Korea. Originally leather coats were reserved for the elite of the communist state, as only they could buy genuine.
But then North Korean clothing manufacturers began importing synthetic leather to make their own versions. The result: counterfeits were sold in almost all North Korean markets and worn by young men across the country.

Police respond to complaints by arguing that dressing like rulers is a “dirty practice” that calls into question their authority.
The leather coat was also reportedly worn by the dictator’s sister, Kim Yo Jong, who is being traded in as his designated successor. That is why it is said to have become a symbol of powerful women and North Korean women are no longer allowed to wear coats.
And that Kim Jong-un had already banned him from skinny jeans to combat “Western collapse.”
