The United Nations World Climate Conference begins in Scotland on Sunday, with nearly 200 countries participating. The day before, hundreds of activists demonstrated in Glasgow: “We are waiting for more ambitious measures,” he says.

IA day before the start of the World Climate Conference, hundreds of climate activists took to the streets in Glasgow, Scotland. Protesters marched through the city center on Saturday, carrying posters with slogans such as “doing things instead of words” and “stop fossil fuels”.

They were led by activists from the climate protection movement Extinction Rebellion, which has announced it will bring Scotland’s largest city to a standstill with its protests during the climate summit.

“We are looking forward to more ambitious measures,” said Belgian defender Dirk van Esbroeck. Conference participants should be made aware of the “urgency of the situation”. “Because our children and grandchildren are at risk of living in a more complex world that will face severe upheaval due to climate change.”

Therefore, the meeting is also being considered important in the fight against the climate crisis. The United Nations, scientists and environmental activists around the world criticize past climate protection measures as inadequate. Before the conference, there was much doubt about the success of the conference.
