This is where most of the interest is now

Interest up to 1.25 percent on one year fixed deposits: What seemed unimaginable sometime back is now a reality. Overnight interest rates are also rising again. But which banks offer customers the best terms for both long-term and short-term investments?

Penalty interest on call money, interest on fixed deposits just above zero: that time is over. For the first time in three years, customers who have invested their money for twelve months will again get interest rates of up to 1.25 per cent. If you commit for three years, you can even get 1.8 percent from a very good provider.

However, most of the customers would like to do their banking transactions under one roof. On behalf of ntv, FMH-Finanzberatung has therefore determined which bank offers the best range of call money and fixed term interest rates. In addition to overnight money, the Frankfurt experts also examined fixed deposit investment periods of 12, 24 and 36 months and investment amounts of EUR 10,000 each.

The right product for every investment horizon

To make the results comparable and understandable, FMH first created a ranking of individual products and then benchmarked it for evaluation. It’s telling more than just interest rates. And it enables customers to find the best bank for their individual needs. The desires of savers can vary greatly, depending on how willing you are to take the risk and your schedule.

While one investor wants to park his money in a call money account with a good interest rate and wait and see how far the fixed deposit interest rates will move, another would like to invest a large part of his savings in a good-year. Decide on Fixed Deposit and later for long term investment. Still others today may have no problem reducing the investment for three years.

Depending on their individual security needs, some clients will also prefer the comprehensive German for European deposit insurance. Since interest rates are slightly lower for the former, FMH splits the valuation accordingly.

Five banks with very good offers

At the top of the first group (Extended Deposit Insurance) are PBB Direct, Bank 11, Ford Bank and IKB Deutsche IndustrieCreditBank. There are good offers from GEFA Bank, ABCBank and Merkur Privatbank among others.

In the group with statutory deposit insurance, BigBank and Renault Bank from Estonia are at the top. Before GuarantyBank follow VakifBank, Varengold Bank and second in line NIBC Direct.

The interesting thing about this result is that above all the banks that also offer good installment loans or are active in investment financing score points. Obviously, refinancing with attractive fixed deposit rates is currently more attractive than refinancing with the European Central Bank.
