Ecclestone criticizes Haas boss for handling Mick Schumacher: Father will show Michael Steiner where to go

Ecclestone sees criticism from Schumacher as counterintuitive because he himself knows he is not performing as well as he should. “He doesn’t need to tell people all the time,” Ecclestone insisted in an interview with “RTL.” “She needs someone to help her and don’t criticize her too much.”

The former Formula 1 boss wanted father Michael to be able to join his son’s race – just as a form of support and someone who spoke straightforward language: “If Michael were here, he would show Gunther it goes a long way.”

Mick Schumacher is currently in a difficult position as Ecclestone thinks it will be difficult for him to have another place in Formula 1 if he upsets the team and is kicked out: “So he is suffering a bit and Hopefully someone will give him a chance.”

Along with Nicolas Latifi, Mick Schumacher is the only regular driver to have not scored a single point in the 2022 season yet. In Canada, however, the German attracted attention with a strong qualifying and sixth place before retiring from the race with a defect while in the top 10.

Ecclestone: Would like to see Schumacher at Mercedes

On the other hand, there were some major accidents like qualifying in Saudi Arabia and Monaco, in which the team had to spend a lot of money. In Miami, Schumacher also scored potential points after colliding with Sebastian Vettel in the final leg.

Still, Ecclestone believes Schumacher has the skills for Formula 1 and would like to see him “in a different car, in a more competitive car”. His dream: “I would like to see him in an earlier Mercedes car. That would be cool.”

Rosberg also jumps on Schumacher’s side

In an interview with “Sport Bild”, Nico Rosberg also commented on Schumacher’s predicament: “It was the first time that things became a little more uncomfortable for him in terms of the media landscape. Last year it was peace, joy, pancakes.” Unfortunately, it is always the case in an athlete’s life that things get more difficult sometimes,” emphasized the 2016 world champion.

Rosberg showed little understanding for Steiner’s criticism: “It’s difficult because your team is your family. And if they criticize you publicly, that’s not the best approach for a young driver.”

Clear words from the 36-year-old who didn’t consider the team boss’s scolding as expedient: “It’s a challenge for a young racing driver to rely on his skills again in a situation like this. You don’t need a team to sway public opinion.” Boss to provoke.”

Mick now has to “stay focused, accept suggestions for improvement and do what he can: drive a car,” said the 36-year-old. A trend reversal can happen quickly: “Formula 1 is so short-lived. Mick only needs a moment’s break and everything is forgotten. He has to work for it.”
