Vancouver/Munich – Formula E will not hold a race in Vancouver in 2022. The local promoter company, OSS Group, announced that the e-Prix scheduled for July 2, which was supposed to be part of an event called the Canadian e-Fest, would not take place and would be rescheduled for a date in 2023.
“After intense due diligence with the City of Vancouver, OSS Group has had to make the incredibly difficult decision to postpone the Canadian e-Fest to 2023,” the organizer’s statement said.
“The City of Vancouver fully supports the postponement. Hosting a world-class event is of utmost importance to the organization. We will communicate with ticketholders through our ticketing partner APTI, to inform them of their options. could.” ,
Possible replacement still open
The statement did not detail the reasons for the postponement of the first Formula E race in Vancouver. According to information from local media, it was apparently not certain that the organizer would receive all the necessary permits to organize the event.
The Vancouver E-Prix was to be held on a street circuit in False Creek, which also raced in the CART and ChampCar series between 1990 and 2004.
Formula E has not yet announced whether Vancouver will be replaced by another venue. If the race is canceled without replacement, the electric racing series faces another six-week long break between the race in Jakarta and the double-header in New York.
