Hollywood stars condemn Texas’ strict abortion laws

• A new law in the US state of Texas has made abortion more difficult.
• Through it, rapists can even sue their victims’ abortion workers – and collect thousands of dollars for it.
• Civil rights activists and politicians have already raised a storm against it, with Hollywood stars also now condemning the law.

Dozens of Hollywood stars and actors, including Academy Award winners Reese Witherspoon, 45, and Rita Moreno, 89, are flouting the tough new abortion law in Texas.

“I stand behind the women of Texas, who have the constitutional right to make decisions about their health and their bodies,” wrote witherspoon on Twitter on Thursday. She combined a call from the family planning organization “Planned Parenthood” with a petition calling for resistance.

American singer Pink warns TwitterThat “excessive” ban on abortion in Texas would serve as a blueprint for similar laws in other states if nothing is done about it.

Actress Kerry Washington calls for the struggle for self-determination and independent planning for the next generation. Celebrities like Amy Schumer, Eva Longoria, Bella Hadid, Dua Lipa, Elizabeth Banks and many more also supported the action.

Immediate motion against abortion law rejected

The US Supreme Court rejected an urgent motion against the Texas law. Law that came into force on Wednesday bans abortionOnce the fetal heartbeat is determined. This can happen as early as the sixth week of pregnancy. Many women do not yet know that they are pregnant at this time. Exceptions are allowed only in medical emergencies. (JWO/DPA)
