As the Tokyo Games come to an end, months have been waiting for Donostoff’s President Wolfgang Weigert to set the course.

The president of the German Karate Association (DKV) wanted a German medal from Donostoff. That didn’t happen, but the 67-year-old’s main objective of karate was fulfilled at the Olympic premiere of his sport in Tokyo. Because before the Olympics is the Olympics: not in Paris for 2024, where karate will not be part of the program, but in Los Angeles for 2028, where karate wants to be a second time. “It’s likely to be decided next year,” says Weigert, who has been practicing karate himself since 1970.
