A guardian angel flew with me.
At Miami International Airport, federal officials made a bizarre discovery on Saturday: They found a man in the landing gear of an airplane that had just landed from Guatemala – a little baffled, but alive!
The stowaway was hidden between the wheels, rims and struts of an American Airlines plane and was flown from Guatemala City to Miami. Flight duration: 2 hours 37 minutes. And that too in cold and thin air.
Videos posted on social networks show how the stowaway has problems with its balance and water being supplied by police and emergency services.
US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials arrested the 26-year-old at the airport. CBP said in a statement it had “attempted to avoid a search in the aircraft’s landing gear.” The agency is probing the incident.
American Airlines said that after landing at 10:06 a.m., police checked the plane “due to a security issue”. The airline supported the authority in the investigation.
The 26-year-old was taken to the hospital for medical examination.
