Update 7:30am.: Ice Hockey – Canada with a resounding win
Record Olympic champions Canada began the women’s ice hockey tournament with a landslide victory at the Winter Games in Beijing. The world champions of ice hockey’s home country started the preliminary round in Group A by 12:1 (3:0, 5:0, 4:1) to overtake Switzerland, the 2014 Olympic bronze medalist.
With the expected defeat, the Olympics began for the hostesses. China, ranked 19th in the world, lost 3-1 (0-1, 1-1, 0-1) to the Czech Republic in Group B at the Wukesong Sports Center.
