Stockach and surrounding areas: Review: Summer 2021 floods affected the Stockach area so badly

These rains were excessive: in early July 2021, Stockcher and Mahlspurer Aach broke their banks after a violent storm and caused problems: the bridge construction site on the L194 near Stockach flooded and washed away replacement lanes. So the road had to be closed until the repairs were completed. In addition, the slope between Kalkofen and Neumühle threatened to collapse when there were grinding marks, and a road block had to be installed there as well. The segment there could only be re-released at the end of October.

Egeltingen and Bodmann-Ludwigshafen were also affected.

Water congestion also caused trouble in Marienshluch: two weeks after opening, the reconstructed hiking trail from the ship pier through the palace courtyard to Walhausen had to be closed again. Life was threatened because the subsoil had become so soft.

And the rain paralyzed everything even at the construction site at the Risdorf intersection in Stockach. The work could continue only after the water level in the Stockcher Ach receded.

fire brigade removed

By mid-July the floods had not ended. Fire tenders were working throughout the Stockach area as the roads were flooded and water gushed out. In Stockach it hit the districts, but also badly affected the city center – among other things, the parking lots of the B 313 and Aach Center in the ZG intersection area were under water, the basements were full.

In the Bodman area, power went out in several places after an underground cable exploded in a landslide.

The municipality of Bodmann-Ludwigshafen was still concerned with the wet slope in August.
