Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin made his first visit to Israel by a key member of President Joe Biden’s government, whose stance on Iran has alarmed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration.

Tehran announced on Saturday that it had begun operating refined centrifuges to enrich uranium.

On Wednesday, Netanyahu said that Israel was not bound by an agreement that would allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons.
The Prime Minister said, “An agreement with Iran that will pave the way for nuclear weapons weapons – which threatens our extinction – will not force us in any way.”
Iran insists that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.
Biden said he was ready to come back to the deal and said he was successful in stopping Iran’s nuclear activities until Washington returned.
However, the US urged Iran to withdraw compliance, while Tehran insisted on an immediate end to all US sanctions and urged both sides to take the first step.
