A girl was killed in what seems to be a shark assault though swimming off the coast of Maine on Monday, officials stated.
She was wading off the shore of Bailey Island about 3:30 p.m. when a witness observed her getting attacked by what looked like a shark, Maine Maritime Patrol explained.
A pair of kayakers aided her get to shore, and an ambulance provided further support, but she was pronounced useless at the scene, the authorities explained.
The swimmer’s name was not produced, pending notification of her loved ones.
The incident would be only the next recorded unprovoked shark assault in the point out, the Portland Press Herald claimed.
