Biden: The first dogs have gone to the White House - the major and the champion are here - politics abroad

The White House is safe again. Because now it is a guard of eight paws…

Shortly after the new US President Joe Biden (78) and his wife Jill (69), the couple’s dogs, champions and majors, walked into the White House on Sunday. Without any problem of degradation, German Shepherds romp around directly on the lawn of their new abode, as shown in pictures published by the White House. There has been no “First Dogs” in the White House since Barack Obama’s presidency.

“Champ enjoys his new dog bed by the fireplace and Major loves running in the southern lawn,” First Lady spokesman Michael LaRosa was quoted as saying by CNN on Monday. Champion has been with Biden and his wife Jill since 2008. Bidens took the German Shepherd Major from an animal shelter in 2018. According to Biden’s team, he is the first shelter dog in the White House.

The two four-legged friends have been the first pets in the White House in four years. While former President Obama boiled the Portuguese water dog Bo and his predecessor George W.W. Bush owned a Scottish terrier, Donald Trump broke this animal tradition. He was the first US president without a dog in more than a century.

The former president is considered a meticulous hygiene fanatic: “In a video recording with Trump asking Trump what it would look like if I walked a dog on the White House lawn.” Biden also used it for an election campaign site, which continues to say: “Choose your people wisely.”
