Dutch airline KLM was the first to announce on Saturday that it would suspend its flights to Ukraine until further notice.
Lufthansa said: “The termination of air traffic is under investigation, but no decision has been made at this time.” French airline Air France made a similar statement. Both the airlines want to keep a close watch on the situation.

According to information from the largest Ukrainian news site “starna newsMajor international insurers want to announce on Monday that they will no longer insure flights into or out of Ukraine or the country’s airspace.
This will result in immediate suspension of all flights, as no aircraft is allowed to fly without insurance.

Germans should leave the country
While Western countries rely on diplomacy, they are preparing for emergencies. This also applies to Germans who are in Ukraine.
The German government has now asked its citizens to leave Ukraine, following warnings from the US government of a possible imminent Russian attack.
“If you are currently in Ukraine, check whether your presence is mandatory. If not, leave at short notice,” wrote the Federal Foreign Office in a new travel alert on Saturday.
Other EU countries such as Belgium and the Netherlands published similar notices. The United States, Great Britain, Denmark, Australia, Latvia and Estonia, have previously asked their citizens to leave the country.
Remaining US embassy staff began destroying documents and hardware on Saturday. The embassy will remain closed from today.
