After Federer, Nadal and Murray: Djokovic plays Laver Cup - more games

Wimbledon winner Novak Djokovic is also joining the European tennis team’s superstar squad at the Laver Cup in London in September.

The 35-year-old Serb competes with Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray in a duel with the world selection, as announced by the organizers.

Djokovic said, “It’s the only competition where you play against the guys you usually play against. Rafa, Roger and Andy – joining my three biggest rivals – is a really unique moment in our sport. ” Grand Slam tournament title at Wimbledon.

The quartet has won a total of 66 of the last 76 titles at the four biggest tournaments in the world. The 40-year-old Swiss Federer played his last match in July 2021, having operated on his right knee for the third time last August.

There are still two places open in the European team. So far, Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliasime, American Taylor Fritz and Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman have been nominated for world selections. The Laver Cup will be held in London for the fifth time from 23 September to 25 September. Team Europe has won all the editions so far. The Laver Cup will be held in Berlin in 2024.
