Best FIFA Football Awards 2021: These stars are up for election with Lewandowski and Tuchel

Haben Chancen auf den Sieg bei der FIFA-Wahl: Robert Lewandowski (von links), Thomas Tuchel, Ann-Katrin Berger und Manuel Neuer.

There are many individual awards given to professional football players who like to talk about putting themselves in service of the team. For example the “Ballon d’Or”, which is a French business newspaper france football Awarded and given to the best footballer in Europe and later the world footballer. The Golden Ball still exists, but the most prestigious awards have long been awarded by the European football association UEFA and the world federation FIFA at their own ceremonies. There are many other awards from many countries as well – with very different charisma.

This Monday (from 7 pm) it is FIFA’s turn again – and the trophy for the world footballer could go back to the Bundesliga. FC Bayern’s defending champion Robert Lewandowski is one of the finalists along with Lionel Messi (Paris Saint-Germain) and Mohamed Salah (Liverpool FC). National coaches, national team captains, journalists and fans deserved the vote. When the Golden Ball was awarded at the end of November, Bayern lost to the striker Messi. Argentina had led their home country to their first Copa America win in the summer in 28 years.

In the 2010s, Messi and his longtime rival Cristiano Ronaldo were the winners of every conceivable election, with very few exceptions. There was no way around Lewandowski last year after Bayern’s triple win. In the 2020/21 season, Munich won the championship, with Lewandowski improving on Gerd Müller’s old goalscoring record. Chelsea won the Champions League title, with German coach Thomas Tuchel hoping for a coaching award on Monday. PlayBUZZER gives an overview: These are the nominees for the most important FIFA awards.
