Motorsport-Magazin.com – Formula E is one step closer to returning to Canada. The Vancouver city council approved a proposal to conduct Formula E races in 2022 with a clear majority.
As reported last week, two city councilors in the metropolis of Southwest Canada moved a resolution to this effect. It has now been approved 9 to 1 at a meeting of the city council. There are increasing signs that we will see a Canada race in the upcoming season.
The leadership behind the project is the OSS Group, which has been working toward a race in the North American state for years in connection with the power racing series. The group also takes care of financing the event.
Formula E in Canada: Last race in 2017
Formula E last and until now in 2017 was only in Canada. In a double header in Montreal, Lucas Di Grassi was crowned Formula E champion. But Vancouver has already gained experience with motorsport events. The 2010 Olympic city hosted the race in the North American Cart / Champ Car Series between 1990 and 2004.
Like the city race at the time, the Vancouver E-Prix would take place near the city center in False Creek. The local press mentions a possible date for the Formula E race in July 2022.
