HSV: Fiete Arp: In Canada I saw trees after relegation - second Bundesliga

Fiete Arp (21) at HSV was considered the genius of the century. He made his debut in the Bundesliga when he was 17 years old. With his move to Bayern (25 million salary for five years) he was financially secure – and yet life was not easy for Kendra.

He gave a remarkable interview in “11Freunde”.

About Fiat ARP:

He had his last disappointing season at HSV before moving to Bayern. “It was hard. Carelessness left me, happiness too, drift, then confidence. At some point I thought too much. It’s bad how much I think about football. In the end my head gripped my legs.”

Lineage with HSV. “My generation in Hamburg has grown up with the fact that we have never left behind. I also always said that with pride, was still on the block in relegation against Karlsruhe a year ago and was upset by the performance of the players . And then I would be part of the team that goes down with the club for the first time. To me it felt like I was dropped twice: as a fan and as a player.”

stress later. “I didn’t leave my parents’ house for two days, I was blind under the covers. Then I said: Never mind. And booked a flight for me to Canada. The next day it started. When I got there, I sat alone in a forest house, looked at the trees and wondered what exactly had gone wrong. That was good.”

Move to Munich. “It was only months later that my advisor informed me of Munich’s interest. And I really didn’t want to go to Munich at that time. But Bayern did not give up. At the same time, HSV went deeper into the basement, I no longer played a role under new coach Bernd Hollerbach, and on top of that I was told by HSV that my sale would fill one financial hole or another. , In the end, there was a disparity from my point of view: I would have dropped FC Bayern for HSV. But I thought HSV was no longer sending the right signal.”

His time with Bayern. “Most of the time it wasn’t enough, I don’t have to lie to myself. But sometimes there were moments when I realized I could go on. Put a dribble against Sulley, Kimmich stole the ball, Give a new one. Overall, though, these moments were short.”

His fresh start in Kiel. “To be honest: nothing against the city or the club, but I have already seen myself in Maypen. The nail is not my salvation, but a six in the lottery.”

money problems. “You can feel lonely even with a lot of money. But I am not allowed to tell. If I say that I feel bad, I have sleep problems or I am otherwise weak, it means: Yes, but he makes so much money…”
