I would like to go abroad to Canada in September next year. A key point in my decision was that I could speak French and English in Canada and would then like to use my improved language skills to move on to my school’s language profile.
But the break I will get from my school as a result is also important to me. I don’t need to focus on my grades for a year, but I can focus on new experiences in my life. This is what I am looking forward to the most. For new people, international friends and a whole new culture and different way of life. I also know that Canadians go to church more often and are more believers than I am. I am very excited and curious about this.
The seasons in Canada are much more specific and I wonder what it would be like when the weather and temperatures would be very different than in Germany. Experiencing the various activities of winter and summer will surely be a new experience. For example, I’ve never skied before, but I can learn to do so.
Now preparations are on to find my host family. I am sure I will treat them well. Overall, I think I’ll come home a lot more independent, confident, and open-minded.
