Thanks to the collaboration between Samsung and Google, the future of Wear OS doesn’t look as dark as it used to be. Many users are already waiting for the new operating system and its new functions. But not everyone can be happy, as Google announced that two of its new apps will be available exclusively for Wear OS 3 smartwatches.
The new YouTube Music and Google Maps app isn’t for Wear OS 2
Following the official launch of the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 series, it quickly became apparent that some Wear OS improvements had been made. Many users of smartwatches with older Wear OS 2 are unsure whether and if so, what functions will be added to their smartwatch with the update.
As far as the new YouTube Music and Google Maps are concerned, Google has now confirmed that these are exclusively for smartwatches with the latest version of the operating system. The new Maps app is a visual modification of the original app and many functions, such as turn-by-turn directions, remain the same as compared to the old version. The YouTube Music app, on the other hand, is an entirely new version making its debut on Samsung’s new Wear OS watches. The app allows YouTube Music subscribers of the paid premium version to search their library and download music from the watch for offline playback. There’s also a “Smart Downloads” feature that automatically updates the offline library while the watch is charging.
YouTube Music Premium members can access over 80 million songs and thousands of playlists in the new YouTube Music app on Wear OS. This standalone app is the first YouTube Music smartwatch app to enable YouTube Music Premium subscribers to download music for offline listening without ads, even with your phone around. The app also has a Smart Download feature that updates the songs you’ve downloaded while charging and connected to WiFi. You can even use bespoke playlists for the perfect soundtrack, no matter what you’re doing..
In addition to the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 models, mobvoi tikwatch pro 3 Received an upgrade to Wear OS 3, although it shouldn’t be until 2022.
