The victory went to the favorites Wang Han/Shi Tingmao (326.40), who gave China their fifth consecutive gold in this discipline. Silver went to Melissa Citrini Beaulieu / Jennifer Abel (Canada / 300.78).
This is the first Olympic medal for the German Swimming Association (DSV) in this competition since 2008, when Diet Kotzian and Heike Fischer also won bronze in Beijing.
