Seal is lost on the farm

A seal becomes a star in Australia. How did the animal reach a field far away from its place of residence?

Seals on the ground in Australia have stirred up: A dairy farmer in the southeastern state of Victoria on Sunday discovered the animal crawling across the pasture under the helpless gaze of his cows. “We drove the tractor to the pasture and at first thought it was a pig. When it started moving, we saw that it was definitely not a pig, but a seal,” Carly McGee told ABC on Thursday.

Simpson village has a distance of about 30 kilometers between the traditional range of seals off the coast and McGee’s pasture. The farmer suspected that the animal might have swam in the river and then went to the shore in search of food. She alerted the authorities that Melbourne Zoo staff should examine the animal and bring it back to sea.

Video taken by McGee shows the seal crossing pasture. “We’re not allowed to go near him, so we can’t save him ourselves,” the farmer told Channel 7. Since he was first sighted, he has moved farther inland and is now on his parents’ side property.
