While Rocketworks and lead developer Dean Hall have already rolled out pre-orders with beta weekends every two weeks for testing ICARUS over the past few months, the new survival title is now in keeping with the wilderness hype.7 vs. Wild“Available on Steam for 24.99 euros (as of December 7, 2021 for 22.49 euros). Late in the evening, the alien planet that gave the game its name opens its gates and takes you through stormy forests, crushed ice deserts and Invited to go on adventures in many other biomes.

ICARUS tells the story of the human race who pushed Earth into the abyss and as a result is on a desperate search for a replacement. That replacement is believed to be the planet Icarus. In addition to Earth’s almost idyllic forests and animals, Icarus offers one thing above all: a mysterious, exotic material that greedy people try to obtain by selling it to earn noses of gold.

In that endeavour, the volunteers, motivated by the said greed for money, averted all dangers. The said role of volunteers called prospectors in the game is performed by the players. You can find out more about ICARUS and the game theory behind it here Here,

Twitch and Steam indicate successful release

Within hours of its release, thousands of players were playing ICARUS at the same time via Steam, which eventually caused excitement in Dean Hall as well. What started with 25,000 active players at the same time grew to over 40,000 players and over 76,000 viewers on Twitch during the night.

These are certainly not bad numbers for the first 24 hours and create anticipation for what is to come. ICARUS currently has a larger audience than big titles like Forza Horizon 5, Rainbow Six Siege, Destiny 2, Rocket League, Battlefield 2042, Call of Duty: Vanguard, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and sometimes Halo Infinite.

But not only on Twitch, but also on Steam, some of the big titles are currently lagging behind in terms of players who are active at the same time. We have already read under some of those headings that today, December 4, 2021, have less viewers than ICARUS on Twitch. To be mentioned again here are Battlefield 2042, Rocket League, Forza Horizon 5. However, it should be noted that while ICARUS is only available on Steam, most Battlefield players are through Origin, Rocket League players through the Epic Games Store. And Forza Horizon players can play through the Xbox app or the Microsoft Store and drop a Steam number for the in-house launcher accordingly. A game ending via console is definitely not included in this figure.

Nevertheless, we look forward to seeing how great the success of ICARUS will be in the future.

What do you say, is the survival title interesting to you?
