Soccer Women: Canadians Win Gold

Canadian female footballer is the first ever Olympic champion. In the final, the North Americans defeated Sweden 3–2 in a penalty shootout. Julia Grosso won the deciding penalty. Sweden’s Caroline Seger had earlier missed a match point. It was 1–1 after 120 minutes and goals from Stina Blackstanius and Jesse Fleming (penalty). Sweden won silver and Canada bronze in the German Olympic gold medal five years ago.

Country Hockey Women: Netherlands back on throne

Following their Olympic victories in 2008 and 2012, land hockey players from the Netherlands lost the final to Great Britain in Rio in 2016. Five years later, he is back on the throne.
