Bayern Munich full-back Alfonso Davies tore a muscle fiber in his right rear thigh in a Bundesliga game at Hertha BSC (3-2) on Saturday, the record German champion said.

The 22-year-old will play Bayern Munich’s last two Bundesliga games this year against Werder Bremen on 8 November and FC Schalke 04 on 12 November. However, participating in the World Cup is “not in danger” for the Canadian international.

Davis got a place in the 64th minute. Coach Julian Nagelsmann then, after consulting with team doctors, stated that the left back had suffered “at least one torn muscle fiber”. The injury has now been confirmed by the medical department of FC Bayern.

Canada will face Croatia, Belgium and Morocco in Group F at the World Cup in Qatar. A duel with Germany would be possible in the round of 16. Davis is a top performer for Canada’s pick.
