Anyone who tunes in to “Tageschau” knows what they’re getting into. But not always who: On Thursday, viewers were surprised that Andre Schenke moderated. Behind it was the earlier breakdown.

8 p.m. before: the Daily News, The moderation desk of possibly the most famous news program on German TV is a much-anticipated job for journalists. And sometimes you meet them by chance. At least that’s what happened with Andre Schenke on Thursday. They presented the news of that day because there was that kind of mess behind the scenes Ed accepted.
A tweet from NDR said: “Surprised? There was a mistake in the plan. Tagsschau24 presenter Andre Schenke stepped in at short notice. The best thing about the answer is our instincts!”
