WWE Friday Night SmackDown #1179
Location: Smoothie King Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania, USA
US First aired: February 25, 2022
Before the show, we were told via social media that the Champion vs Champion match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns at WrestleMania would result in a reunification between WWE and the WWE Universal Championship. That’s exactly what the introductory promo video is about, before commentators Michael Cole and Pat McAfee greet us from Hershey Pennsylvania.
Michael Cole is now in the ring and announces Ronda Rousey, who then heads straight into the ring. Ronda Rousey first entered the WWE ring three years ago. Cole wants to know what it was that brought Ronda Rousey back. She says she had been exercising until she found out she was going to have a baby when she was about to return to win the Royal Rumble. Rousey also aims to become the first woman to defeat Charlotte Flair. Here is a recap of the tag team match at Elimination Chamber where Ronda Rousey defeated Flair. Then comes Charlotte Flair. He mentioned that he felt sorry for Ronda when her hand was tied behind his back. At WrestleMania she will tap Ronda and also send her on the next baby break. Just then Sonya the Devil comes and attacks Rousey. Rousey breaks out of the attack, but fails to hit a punch herself.
Before the commercial break, Kofi Kingston and Big E watch as they pull up a quad backstage and learn they will have their “next” match against Los Lotharios.
After the commercial break, we see Adam Pierce and Sonya Deville watching the scenes before the commercial. Pearce is anything but happy and then schedules a match between Sonya Deville and Ronda Rousey for next week.
Back in the hall, Los Lotharios is in the ring. This is where “Los Lotharios Kiss Cam” comes into play. Kofi Kingston and Big E are coming, but not on foot. Instead, Birthday Boy Big E takes the two into the ring with a quad.

Sam Roberts celebrates his WWE return by interviewing SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos. They say that Lesnar will lose at WrestleMania just like the Viking Raiders did. This throws the Viking Raiders onto the scene. The latter stormed into the Usos and made it clear that they would continue their hunt for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship.
Sarah Schreiber now looks up to “The Protector” Xia Lee, who is making her first SmackDown debut in the ring today.
Xia Li defeats Natalya with a pin after a spinning heel kick.
Match Time: 3:58
Progressive “Match Flow” follows a review of last week’s Intercontinental Championship match. Now new Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn is back in the ring. He celebrates his title win in a big way and that is right. Eventually he became the victim of a bigger conspiracy. Zayn appears to question the plot, but quickly comes to the conclusion that it did exist after all. It just proved that he is very resilient to take her off course. He will give Shinsuke Nakamura another shot at the title, but Nakamura is still busy recovering from his injured knee. It is even ready to defend its title against anyone brave enough to do so. Jackass Forever star Johnny Knoxville then comes out and issues the challenge. Zayn doesn’t like this at all and once again mentions that Knoxville has no place in the ring. Knoxville remains to question the presence of Sami Zayn’s privates. The two men drop their microphones and stare. As Zayn appears to leave the ring, he turns to attack Knoxville. He hit Knoxville with two helluva kicks.
Sami Zayn is now backstage with Adam Pierce and apologizes for what just happened. Ricochet interrupts the two and demands an Intercontinental Championship match, which is promised by Pierce straight to the next week.
Back in the hall, Sasha Banks walks into the ring for the next match. Naomi joined the commentary booth to watch the match.
Sasha Banks defeated Shotji via submission after the Banks Statement.
Match Time: 2:11
After the match, Naomi enters the ring with a mic and briefly announces the return of Team BAD. At least 2/3 of them as she and Sasha Banks are eyeing the Women’s Tag Team Championship.
Madcap Moss and Happy Corbin are now in the interview zone. Marked by his match at Elimination Chamber, Moss is not as “happy” as Corbin. The Alabama slam, which Moss had landed on his head, was also mentioned here. Corbin says that Moss has the strongest neck in WWE. He also mentioned that McIntyre will be dealing with him today. It is then taken back to the hall in which Drew McIntyre is already celebrating his entry.
Corbin takes the floor before the match starts. McIntyre vs Corbin is a WrestleMania match. He asks Drew if he’s sure he’s being humiliated here in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Corbin challenges Moss to show him how great he is and Moss enters the ring. McIntyre was attacked by both of them before the match started. Moss has to go in place of Corbyn.
Drew McIntyre defeated Madcap Moss (w/ Happy Corbin) via pin after Claymore.
Match Time: 7:17
Ronda Rousey is backstage for the interview. She comments on her match against the Devil next week. She keeps it short and explains that Sonya will notice what happens when an authority figure gets out of line.
Now it is the turn of the tribal chief. Roman Reigns, along with The Usos and Paul Heyman, entered the ring for a big signing with Brock Lesnar. Reigns takes the floor and unwinds the usual melody at the beginning. Paul Heyman also insists on speaking up. He says that Reigns vs Lesnar is the biggest WrestleMania match of all time. For example, bigger than The Rock vs “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. There are also security guards in the ring who Heyman says are there to protect Lesnar from his impulsivity and rule. And ladies and gentlemen is a rock. With these words Heyman says goodbye to the commercial break. Back from the break, Lesnar is still out. Brock receives a microphone and Paul Heyman introduces himself in style. He then says that he needs to control himself because he is so impulsive and that if Roman thinks even for a second these “skid mark” security guards will stop him from jumping on the table and kicking everyone else’s move. , then he is wrong. The only thing stopping him is himself and this contract. Brock is going to sign that contract, and at WrestleMania he will kick Roman and Heyman’s ass and pay for it. Roman actually moves a bit and pushes the table away with one hand. Looks like it caught Brock’s attention. Brock signs the contract and throws it to Roman. Fed up with Brock’s disrespect, Heyman told Brock that he would lose the WWE Title at Madison Square Garden. Roman receives a pen from Heyman and signs the contract, then receives a microphone from Heyman. Roman tells Brock that he must be confused because the title Brock holds is actually Roman’s and Brock doesn’t know. Brock has no chance as it is Roman Ring, Roman Belt, Roman Cameraman and Roman Show. The commentary team works for the Rains and so do the security guys. While Reigns and Co. escape on stage, Lesnar removes the security guards. Today’s show has gone off air with these pictures.
