RX 6700 XT black screen and graphics card disabled

2 people in a room?
Have a nice day everyone!

1. Please tell us your current hardware:
(Please actually list here And don’t refer to the signature, because some don’t see it and the hardware changes)

  • Processor (CPU): AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
  • Memory (RAM): 32GB DDR4-3200 Reppos V
  • Motherboard: MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus
  • PSU: 750W Quiet Direct Power 11, 80+ gold
  • Graphics Card: Sapphire Radeon RX 6700 XT

2. Describe your problem. The more precise and better you describe your problem, the better we can help you (eg additional pictures may be helpful):

Recently I have had this problem repeatedly during games that my desktop just freezes for a while and goes black shortly after while the audio sometimes partially (looped) and sometimes completely Kind of goes on normally. I have to restart the PC every time, and the graphics card is always disabled in Device Manager.

The problem happens very inconsistently, so I can’t easily replicate it. GPU, CPU temperature and CPU usage are in the normal range.

This seems to happen quite often in WoW, a few times in FFXIV. However, both that and other titles such as The Witcher 3 and Total Warhammer 2 can also last for a long time without any problems.

In one case I had a blue screen (memory management).

In normal operation, i.e. while browsing, watching YT or streams or working with Word/Excel etc., this never happened.

3. What steps have you already taken/tried to resolve this issue and what did it do?

  • GraKa and PSU cables checked
  • I ran DDU in safe mode with the default settings (except the option to delete the drivers folder as this is not specifically recommended) and rebooted the PC and installed drivers.
  • The GPU driver is up to date (22.7.1 optional) and so is UEFI.
  • Power Plan – Advanced Settings – PCI Express is set from “Medium” to “Off”.
  • The 3DMark Demo Nitrade, Firestrike and Time Spy benchmarks can all pass. Scores are in the average range.
  • Windows PowerShell “sfc /scannow” executed as specified in the “AMD First Aid Kit” thread. “Corrupted files were found and fixed”. But the problem remains as it is.
  • Windows Memory Diagnostic mdsched.exe -> No errors found, RAM is fully detected.
  • Windows dxdiag -> no errors found
  • MSI Afterburner: Core clock (Mhz) reduced from 2644 (default setting) to 2500. Normally I only use programs to monitor temp and prefer not to overclock.
