Australia and Canada supply military equipment to Ukraine

In response to last week’s Russian attack on Ukraine, Reuters reports subsequent efforts by Australia, Canada and Japan to help Ukrainians resist a Russian invasion.

The Australian government announced on Monday that it would provide lethal military equipment to Ukraine.

Canada’s two largest media companies are removing Russia’s state-run TV broadcaster RT from their currency pair.

In addition, Canada will send an additional $25 million worth of military defense equipment to Ukraine, Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie said.

Meanwhile, Japan’s Prime Minister Kishida said he should act quickly to confiscate Russian assets.

Risk sentiment remains high after disappointing developments over the weekend, which saw Russia approach nuclear deterrence after Russia banned several Russian banks from SWIFT payments.

S&P 500 futures settle at lower levels, down 2.51% on the day.
