This is his first overseas visit since his appointment as the 30th Governor General of Canada on July 26, 2021, as announced by the Frankfurt Book Fair. From 17 to 21 October, the Governor General will pay a state visit to Berlin and Frankfurt. In Berlin, among other things, the program features meetings with Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel.
