EU Commission and Canada launch campaign for Ukrainian refugees

Ottawa/Brussels.The European Union Commission and Canada want to support refugees from Ukraine with a charity campaign organized around the world. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced this in a press release on Saturday. The campaign is called Stand Up for Ukraine. It aims to more effectively collect donations and mobilize support for refugees, and thus take care of the needs of internally displaced persons and refugees.

Referring to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s arguments, von der Leyen tweeted: “We heard you.” According to the press release, von der Leyen said, “The brave people of Ukraine deserve the solidarity of citizens and governments around the world. Together we can bring them a safe home and some light in this dark time.”

Online program plan on 9th April

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also reiterated his solidarity with the Ukrainian people: “Whether you need food, water, shelter or medical help, we are mobilizing the world to continue supporting you and ensuring That the necessary assistance be provided where it is most needed.”

The campaign will conclude on April 9; An online event has been planned for this day. Among other things, musicians, actors, athletes, business people and politicians are invited to be part of the campaign and promote support for Ukrainian refugees. Further details about the incident are not yet known. The non-governmental organization “Global Citizen” is to support the EU Commission and Canada in implementing the campaign as a partner.
