The Swiss curlers are unbeaten in the Olympic tournament around Skip Silvana Tirinzoni. He scored his fifth win in five matches with an 8:4 against co-favorites Canada.

Skip Jennifer Jones, 2014 Olympic gold medalist and two-time world champion, is one of the first gold medal contenders with her team from Winnipeg. Nevertheless, two-time world champions Melanie Barbezat, Esther Neuenschwander, Silvana Tirinzoni and Alina Patz were in control most of the time. They were only left behind in the 6th end (3:4) when Jones was able to steal a point thanks to a brilliantly played stone. The decision was made in the 8th and 9th ends, when CC Arau’s curlers stole a couple of stones each and dragged to 8:4.

Of the remaining four round-robin matches, the Swiss will probably only need to win one more game to reach the semi-finals.

With five victories, Tirinzoni’s team equaled the “Swiss record” set by Luzia Ebnother’s team. The CC Burn Curlers also started the 2002 Olympic tournament in Salt Lake City with five consecutive wins.
