influential sister of North Korea ruler Kim Jong Un has warned the US against “false” hopes of talks with Pyongyang. In a statement released Tuesday by state news agency KCNA, Kim Yo Jong said Washington was facing a “great disappointment”.

America And North Korea is waiting and seeing when it comes to dealing with each other since US President Joe Biden took office. The US government recently announced a “practical, phased approach” for Pyongyang to achieve nuclear disarmament in the isolated country.

Kim Yo Jong: US hopes are “in the wrong direction”

As a result, Kim Jong Un announced last week that he would prepare for “both talks and confrontations”. Bidens’ national security adviser Jake Sullivan said Washington would wait to see if “more direct communication” is in place about “a possible way forward.”

Kim Yo Jong, who is an important advisor to her brother, has now downplayed the possibility of resuming talks too soon. It seemed the US was seeking “consolation for itself”, he told KCNA. He had hopes “in the wrong direction”. It will “drown them into more despair”.
