Planetary protection takes place in two phases. The $330 million project will be launched on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. The launch is scheduled for Wednesday, November 24. DART plans to hit an asteroid 11 million kilometers from Earth on October 2, 2022. The asteroid will not go close to Earth.
