prize money awarded
In response to a political proposal, the Committee on Urban Climate, Environment and Sustainability decided to focus on flower arrangements in relation to the topic of biodiversity when awarding the prize.
“The quantity of flower decorations is declining in many areas of our city due to various reasons. Apart from beautifying the cityscape, an insect-friendly planting in addition to the public green is of great importance. A lot of Spears are already embracing this and we would like to reward that commitment,” said Mayor Stephanie Seiler, explaining this year’s organization of the competition.

In addition to nature conservation associations, all citizens who are personally enthusiastic and wish to contribute to the cause of biodiversity or who are already doing so are invited to participate. Schools and day-care centers are also invited to participate, which is why the application process is tied to the school year.
