- Prince Julian was baptized in Sweden.
- The youngest member of the royal family was accepted into the Christian community at Drottingholm Palace.
Currently Sweden’s smallest prinz Julian was baptized on Saturday. Before the eyes of the assembled royal family, the nearly four-and-a-half-month-old son of Prince Carl Philip (42) and Princess Sofia (36) was accepted into the Christian community in the church of Drottingholm Palace.
As can be seen in a photo on Swedish broadcaster SVT’s website, Mama Sofia was holding the little prince in a white dress over the baptismal font while Bishop Johann Dalmann performed the ritual. Pastor Michael Bjarkhagen and Papa Karl Philipp took the little boy by the hand. The altar and the baptismal font were decorated with colorful flower arrangements. Princess Sofia also wore a white dress with floral patterned embroidery for the match.
Karl Philipp and Sofia’s third son was born on March 26 in Stockholm. Grandson of King Carl XVI. Gustaf (75) is seventh in the Swedish line of succession after Crown Princess Victoria, her children Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar, as well as her father and brothers Alexander and Gabriel.
Carl Gustaf decided in the autumn of 2019 that some of his grandchildren should no longer officially belong to the royal family. This meant that Princess Madeleine and her husband Christopher O’Neill, as well as the offspring of Carl Philip and Sophia, did not have to perform royal official duties at the highest levels. Therefore Prince Julian is not part of the royal family and is not considered Royal Highness, but is a member of the royal family.
