Takashi Izuka speaks about Sonic Team’s new title – ntower

Sonic 2022

sports informer: After Sonic Forces, a lot of fans are curious about what the next Sonic main game from Sonic Team will look like. Now that it’s officially announced, can you give us more details on what kind of gameplay fans can expect from the new game?

izuka: thank you for your patience. Ever since Sonic Forces was released, the Sonic team in Japan has tried many different approaches to deliver the next generation of Sonic experience. As we celebrate 30 years of the Sonic franchise and consider what the modern gameplay experience should be like for the Sonic title, we also need to think about which path to take for the next decade. There’s a lot I can’t talk about right now, but we’re working hard on the title. We look forward to sharing more information on this in the future.

sports informer: Are there any specific things you want to achieve with this new game? What lessons has the team learned from games like Sonic Generations and Sonic Forces being implemented for the new title?

izuka: There’s a lot about the title that I can’t talk about right now, but I think we’ll see an evolution into a modern day Sonic game. Of course, we won’t overlook the high-speed action that differentiated past modern Sonic games like Sonic Generations or Sonic Forces, but instead create a title that fans of our current game as well as new players can enjoy .
