Joe Biden earned this much money in 2021

Contrary to the practice of high-ranking politicians in the United States, his predecessor Trump refused to make his earnings public. However, US President Biden is sticking to tradition and disclosing his income and taxes.

US President Joe Biden and his wife Jill earned a whopping $610,000 (€565,000) last year. That’s according to Biden’s 2021 tax return, which the White House releases regularly. The couple paid a total of $184,000 in taxes. The government center emphasized that Biden has made the 24-year tax returns public to date.

The publication of tax returns is part of US policy for the president and other high-ranking politicians. Biden’s predecessor, Donald Trump, had always refused to follow this tradition as president.

Trump has long been embroiled in lawsuits surrounding his financial and tax records, and he is going many and many ways to block disclosure of the document. That’s why critics suspect he has something to hide. In 2020, in the middle of the then presidential election campaign, the “New York Times” reported that Republicans had paid hardly any taxes for years. Trump denied this.

According to the White House, US Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, reported income of about $1.66 million (€1.54 million) for 2021, on which they paid about $700,000 in taxes. The “New York Times” wrote that the sale of an estate and proceeds from Harris’s memoirs contributed to the income of both. In 2019, the net worth of both was around $ 3.3 million. Harris was a senator at the time, and Emhoff had a lucrative job as a lawyer.
