Consulting firm Skytrax only awards five stars for some first-class services. Overall Lufthansa had to drop a fifth star.

On the other hand, many disappointed and angry customers will hardly be surprised: consulting company Skytrax has withdrawn Fifth Star from Europe’s biggest airline. Lufthansa was the only European airline with this quality award, otherwise only airlines in Asia carry it.
The Skytrax medal is controversial. The British company also advises airlines and is considered fairly non-transparent. But CEO Spohr was particularly proud in 2017 when he received the award. According to the group’s headquarters in Frankfurt, Lufthansa has noticed devaluation, but it remains a premium airline.
