Xbox Cloud Gaming: Web-based version now available for Apple devices

Microsoft’s cloud-based game service Xbox Cloud Gaming was originally intended as a native application for the iPhone and iPad, but Apple outright rejected Redmond’s competitor and did not allow mobile apps. Microsoft had to rethink and look at an alternative solution, which has now been launched via a web-based browser version.

Xbox Cloud Gaming can now be used on desktop and mobile in the browser of Apple devices – officially with “beta”. However, since the service has already been tested for a long time, in this case it can be talked about as a pure precautionary measure to counter potential performance problems or bugs.

Microsoft’s cloud-based game service is available to all users of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in a total of 22 countries around the world. In addition to the browser version on iPhones and iPads, there’s also an option to use Xbox Cloud Gaming on Windows 10 computers and Xbox Series X. Microsoft reports that “100+ great games” will be ready for launch. The collection is also to be expanded regularly. An overview of all the titles published so far can be found Here, which includes well-known names such as Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, The Evil Within 2, Fallout 4, DOOM, Desperados 3, Dirt 5, GTA V and The Sims 4.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate can be booked for one euro each for the first three months after the release of the new game service, and a monthly subscription will cost 12.99 euros. If you want to use Microsoft’s new cloud games on an Apple device, you need to have at least iOS 14.4 and a data connection (WLAN/LTE) with a downstream 10 Mbit/s or higher. And even though some games have touch-based controls, Microsoft recommends that you use your Xbox Wireless Controller or DualShock 4 Wireless Controller.
