Singer Feast cancels tour with Arcade Fire

The Arcade Fire frontman has been accused of sexual misconduct by several women. Singer Feist, who was actually supposed to support the band on the current tour, is now facing the consequences. “I can’t go on,” she says.
Musician Leslie Feist, who acts only as a performer under her own alias, has broken off the tour with Arcade Fire. The reason for this is the recent allegations of a “Pitchfork” article against the band’s lead Vin Butler.
In a statement on Instagram, the Canadian singer explains how she found out about the article: “After rehearsing with my band, in a pub in Dublin, I read the same headline as you read. We have to see that.” Didn’t have time to decide what to prepare for, let alone decide not to fly across the ocean in the midst of this situation.”
The joint concert apparently took place in Dublin – a photo showing Feist’s business stance is circulating on Twitter. A notice on the stand said the proceeds would be donated to a women’s charity in Dublin. The upcoming concerts opening by Feist in Europe will probably happen without him.
Taking to Instagram, the 46-year-old said that the article “ignited a conversation bigger than me, bigger than my songs and certainly bigger than any rock ‘n’ roll tour.” Continuing to concert together would indicate that she is ignoring the damage caused by Butler. However, this is out of the question for him. “I can’t solve it by stopping, I can’t solve it by staying, but I can’t keep going,” Feist said.
Butler reportedly harassed several young women with sexual messages between 2015 and 2020, according to research by Pitchfork. Another man claimed that Butler sexually assaulted her twice. The 42-year-old apologized in a statement for his behavior, but also explained that all sexual contact was by mutual consent. His wife and bandmate Regine Chasagne, with whom Butler has been married since 2003, also supported her husband with a statement.
Arcade Fire has just released a new album. The Canadian band’s European tour will also take them to Munich, Cologne and Berlin in September.
