Pirelli blames Max Verstappen tire burst in Baku

The cause of tire damage is clearly explained by world championship leader Max Verstappen (Netherlands/Red Bull) and Sebastian Vettel’s Aston Martin teammate Lance Stroll (Canada) at the Formula 1 race in Baku.

Tire maker Pirelli said on Tuesday evening that a thorough investigation did not find any “production or quality defects” in any of the related tires, nor did they find any signs of physical fatigue. There was a “peripheral break on the inner side wall” trigger for the detonation of two tires at a speed of more than 300 km / h.

Red Bull and Aston Martin had followed set parameters before the start of the race, but according to Pirelli, procedures would have to be put in place to “ensure compliance with minimum pressures in the future”.

Red Bull responded to Pirelli’s statement with its own statement, in which the Verstappen Racing team declared that “no errors relating to the car could be found. We have at all times followed the tire standards specified by Pirelli and their Will continue to follow the recommendations.” One “grateful that no one was injured in the speeding accidents.”
