Ostroc Legend Ralph “Bummy” Burcy Is Dead
Berlin – Music, photography and skate were his passions: ostrac legend Ralph “Bummy” Burcy is dead. On Monday, his heart stopped beating. He died at the age of 66 leaving wife and two children.
His wife Regina confirmed a similar Internet message to BILD on Tuesday evening: “My husband slept peacefully at home. He was seriously ill. I don’t want to say more.”
After the turnaround, Bercy almost completely withdrew from the stage. Ralph “Bummy” Burcy was once a big name in Ostrok. His biggest hits were “Eh Die Libédies” (1986), “Fuer Im Is” (1986) or “Waiting in the Darkness” (1988). From the eastern bands “Cakes” and “Prinzip” he developed into one of the most popular rock poets in the GDR during his solo career.
Bersi worked as a producer even after the fall of the Berlin Wall and had a small studio at his home in Berlin-Köpenick. He released a successful children’s album with pop star Nena. He also ran several clothing stores. He was also on the road as a photographer and video producer.
BILD from former AMIGA boss Jörg Stempel (65): “I last saw him three years ago, at an AC/DC concert with him. I was particularly impressed by his skills as a skate player. We Often the Puhdis’ Dieter would sit with Birr or Stern Meissen’s Martin Schreier. In the end, Bummi often came out on top.”
